Seed Capital de Bizkaia

Seed Capital de Bizkaia is part of the programme developed by the EU to promote Seed Capital Funds in Europe in order to fund the development of innovative business projects at the start-up stage.

The difficulties encountered by new businesses trying to obtain funding in the form of share capital from the beginning to the consolidation stage led the European Community to start this pilot programme with a view to boosting initial “seed capital” contributions to new companies from the promotion stage to the moment when the choice between traditional venture capital and other forms of funding is made.

This is the context in which Seed Capital de Bizkaia was created. Its aim is to provide financial support by means of capital contributions to Biscay's SMEs from their initial stage (specifically at the promotion and business project design stage and at the start-up and business launch stage) until they are firmly established.
